Social marketing is the latest trend in online marketing and it looks like it is here to stay. Basically, social marketing is connecting with others on social bookmarking websites. Paid advertising is a quick way to bring traffic to your blog especially in the beginning. The key to paid advertising is to make sure you are paying for very targeted traffic and that your offer (product or service) is relevant to your ad. You will be successful if you give visitors what they are looking for.

Simple and to the point. Here are four ways to get targeted traffic through paid advertising.

Pay Per Click - Sign up with either Google Adwords, Yahoo Publisher’s Network, or Microsoft adCenter. Set up a campaign to start receiving targeted traffic to your blog almost immediately. Check out the Google Adwords Learning Center - it’s really the only guide you need.

Advertising On Other Blogs - Find related blogs in your market that get a decent amount of traffic and advertise on their blog (if available). This is a great way to get the right people coming over to your site.

StumbleUpon Ads - Great starting point. StumbleUpon ads are inexpensive and you can get very targeted traffic. Stay tuned as I will be writing more on this soon.

Get A Paid Review - There are bloggers out there that charge a fee to review your blog. Search out experienced bloggers with a medium to large readership and get a paid review (if available, if not - ask for one).

Tell me what you think in the comments section below. Do these online marketing tactics work for you? What other tactics do you use?

Networking is key to the growth of your online business. You have to reach out and network with others in your industry. You can get started very easily and it won’t cost you much at all. Networking is about making connections with new and interesting people. It’s about helping people and sharing ideas. If you approach networking with this mindset you will have much more success!

Okay, it’s time to network. Here are five networking ideas that you can do right away even if your blog is straight off the press.

Make a Connection - Start making a list of blogs that you like that are related to your target market. Keep in touch with these blogs. Post value added comments on their blogs and even send an email introducting yourself. Also, see who else is commenting and follow the link to their blog. You don’t have to go to the most popular blogs either. In fact, in the beginning I don’t even recommend it.

Submit Your Blog - Submit your blog to networking sites like MyBlogLog and Blog Catalog. Start adding friends and visiting other blogs.

Go To The Forums - Find busy forums in your target market and contribute on a regular basis. Make sure to update your settings to show a link to your blog in every post.

Give Link Love - Whenever possible make sure to link to other blogs in your blog posts. The more you give the more likely people are going to come and check you out.

Use YouTube - It’s not just for video. I just came across this cool idea on how to find new blogs or forums using YouTube.

Remember to network on a consistant basis. You will see results!
